Dr. Yaakov Zerem, who says he’s “somewhere between 80 and 100” has been running marathons for the last 25 years. This past Friday, he successfully completed the 14th annual Jerusalem Marathon (10K), after recovering from a serious injury.

I personally think that running is the key to human health. I run all year long - and I especially love running in Jerusalem. I started running late in life, around 50 or 60 years old. There were times when I was working 12 hour days, so I needed to do something to let that energy out and keep my body feeling well. And running does that for me.

Dr. Zerem with Alec (JLM Scoop founder.)

All in all, I think running rounds out my day-to-day. It adds an extra layer, and is a great outlet that just so happens to support a healthy. Especially in Jerusalem, there are many opportunities to keep the spirit and the soul in good shape - so my advice is to find an activity that can do the same for your body.”

Dr. Zerem is an incredible example of the fact that with immense determination, there are no limits to pursuing what you’re passionate about. Kol HaKavod Yaakov, and good luck on your future athletic pursuits!
