Belt it, Noah!
Meet Noah Abramowitz!
Originally from Baltimore (or Ballmore if you’re local), Noah made Israel his home after spending a year in yeshiva. He served in the IDF in the Foreign Affairs Protocol unit, where he worked closely with international militaries to help build stronger cooperation between the IDF Ground Forces and armies around the world. After his service, he studied International Relations and Communications at Hebrew University, then moved into the high-tech world. He recently left that path to pursue an exciting fellowship opportunity.
“One time I found myself at the Kotel on the last day of Pesach, davening with a group of chareidim. When they got to the Haftarah, they were scrambling to find someone who could read it. So I stepped up, wearing a pink shirt and a knit kippa in a sea of black and white, and read straight from the klaf. I got all the ‘shkoyachs’ in the world. It just goes to show you that the human salad that is Jerusalem somehow keeps rolling.
That mix is also what makes Jerusalem such a challenging and incredible place to live as an oleh. You have to adapt constantly, shifting how you carry yourself from neighborhood to neighborhood. But once you get the hang of it, this city really can be the greatest in the world.”
When it comes to local favorites, Noah has strong opinions. For a meal with a story, he recommends Eucalyptus. For something quick, Taco Luis is his go-to. And when it comes to drinks, he says, “If we're talking drinks, and we're talking to me, so we're talking drinks, then Sambatyon on Agron serves the best cocktails in town.”
